Big Pun
In honor of the 5th anniversary of Big Pun’s untimely death, we dig in the crates and bring you the “lost” interview. Pun was the first latin hip-hop solo artist to go platinum. He will forever be remembered as one of the greatest MC’s of all time. This article was originally for a publication for “Under R.A.P.S. Magazine” created by Mitchski and edited by WHO?MAG.

BP: Thanks, I’m pretty proud of the success it has gotten.

UR: I was loving that song since I heard it on the LOUD Summer Sampler. What is your album going to be called?
BP: “Capitol Punishment”

UR: Anything you want to tell the readers about Big Pun?
BP: I don’t need to say anything that my music doesn’t already say. All I wanna say is my songs are about real life. This is who I am. I am down with the Terror Squad, ya know? Everything we say, we do! We are the realest cats in this rap game. We give you the real and the raw with no bullshit. We give you straight lyrics all the time.

UR: Who is in the Terror Squad?
BP: Terror Squad is hundreds of brothers! Of course we have lyricist, people in the streets, lots of stores, and all kinds of doctors and lawyers. As far as lyricists, we have Joey Crack (Fat Joe), Cuban Link, Triple Seis, Triple Prospect, Armageddon, and myself. All of us are on my upcoming album.

UR: Do you want to say anything to the youth out there?
BP: Yeah, make sure you use safe sex. Safe sex is the most important thing in the world right now, because what is the sense of blowing up and in like two or three years you are out! Live long, live smart, and make sure you know what you have to do. Don’t let five minutes of pleasure (for some of us) take away a hundred years of happiness. I want to have my grandchildren sitting down with me and dropping freestyles, you know what I mean?
